Help My Brother Make Music
posted by Kyle on January 31st, 2012
My brother, Cory, is recently engaged. He started up Likable Art and I have worked with him to do all of Popple’s web/CDs/shirts etc… He also does amazing videos and is a very creative guy. Check out his site if you need some graphic design or videos.
Besides his visual creativity, he has written some really amazing songs. I have been bugging him for years to record them because they are really good and I know people would love to hear them.
Well, along with his engagement to the extremely talented Marie, they are going to record a CD and are giving you an opportunity to get involved. You can donate just to help out a cool, young couple or you can donate because the incentives are really great. Check out this video and their website. At the very least, you are going to want to hear the final product (for only $5).

Live Performance From Two Years Ago
posted by Kyle on November 3rd, 2011
This was a renegade performance in the middle of the exhibit hall an NCYC 2009. Filmed and edited by Spirit Juice Studios for their NCYC Unplugged series.
We have five performances scheduled for the weekend of NCYC 2011 . . . perhaps we will have some more renegade performances as well. See you there?
Holy Week
posted by Kyle on April 20th, 2011
We were in Pittsburgh over the weekend and I just got caught up on some of the things I missed while out of town.
Here is a video our good friends from Spirit Juice Studios and Outside Da Box put together. I am posting this a little late for Palm Sunday but still works for Holy Week. I hope yours is full of great blessings.
The Ubass in Action with Paul Simon
posted by Kyle on April 15th, 2011
You may remember me mentioning awhile ago that I got a Kala Ubass, which is a baritone ukulele body with these crazy strings that let you play it like a bass guitar (same tuning and octave). It has been a ton of fun but I have yet to use it at a Popple event.
Bakithi Khumalo is the bass player for Paul Simon and plays the same bass frequently. In fact, he played it last week on Jimmy Fallon. So turn up the bass on your speakers and check out how great this thing sounds.
It has inspired me to bring it along this weekend to Pittsburgh and have some fun.

The Christmas Story
posted by Dan on December 21st, 2010
Brought to us by the good folks at St. Paul’s Church in Auckland, New Zealand. It seems they combined super hip cute kids with hip video making, hip music and the hippest story ever told. Pretty awesome.
Thanks to Cory at likableart.com for the tip.

Where is PJ?
posted by Kyle on August 8th, 2010
Dan and I often get asked, “Where is PJ?”
Our 2nd CD, “Pulled in both directions,” featured the hand drum stylings of the very talented PJ Butler. We met PJ at Purdue and he played with us for a good while, including while we recorded that CD. Later, PJ switched schools to Illinois, got involved with FOCUS as a missionary and eventually a teacher.

His presence in the band was missed but it gives me joy to think that someone else was enjoying his gifts.
We were very excited to hear recently that PJ is now at St. John Vianney Seminary studying to be a priest (God willing)!

So today, we salute you, PJ who once was in Popple and then FOCUS, then a teacher and now seminary. Know that you are in your prayers and we look forward to the reunion tour someday. Perhaps we can call it the, “We found our vocations” tour (Since I am married and Dan will be soon).
For good measure, check out this drummer:
