A few years ago, we did an interview with Life Teen in Arizona. The other day, they posted that lost recording in a new podcast called, “The Mix.”

In it, you will find the answer to this popular question: How did we got the name Popple?

New Bishop and Kyle

posted by Kyle on January 13th, 2010

Today, the Fort Wayne / South Bend diocese (my diocese of residence) got a new Bishop! I got to usher the installment and afterwards, I was interviewed for live TV (they called me Kevin) and then met with the Bishop to tell him about my ukulele. (His name is Bishop Kevin Rhoades, which might be where they got the first name).

Pray for this Bishop transplant (he comes from PA).

Official Endorsee of Kala

posted by Kyle on January 12th, 2010

I have had a Kala ukulele for about a year now and because I am such a uke shredder, we worked out a little sumpin’ sumpin’ and Kala hooked me up like a tow truck with my new guitarlele (also known as the Kala Utar).

I just noticed on their website that it is official. I am an endorsee (3/4 of the way down the page). I just took it to Nashville for a couple of events and am enjoying it.

One of these days I will figure out how to use it to it’s full potential.

1986 Dodge 600

posted by Kyle on January 7th, 2010

In response to Dan’s post earlier today, my first car was a 1986 Dodge 600. It was a light blue four door.

When that died I switched to minivans (I’m on my 3rd) while switching to a ’91 Toyota Celica for a little bit for the 40 mpg.

Automobile Nostalgia

I was listening to our friends Greg and Jennifer Willits on Sirius/XM radio’s The Catholics Next Door and they were talking about the cars they drove in high school.

Jennifer drove an orange Pinto station wagon.

Greg drove a Ford Grenada (updated picture) Greg's Grenada

I drove a Mercury Topaz: mercury topaz

I’m pretty sure Kyle drove a number of vintage mini vans.

What did you drive in high school?

Follow the Star

posted by Kyle on January 3rd, 2010

Two things that Fr. Larry (local priest) mentioned in his homily this weekend caught my ear:

1. The star lead people to Christ. So should we.

2. God used the stars to bring people to Christ. The stars are not particularly Christian. As Christians, we don’t guide our life or make our decisions based on the stars, but that is what spoke to those people. To bring people to Christ, we need to get to know them and once we understand them, then we can speak to them.

Best and Worst CDs I got in 2009

posted by Kyle on January 1st, 2010

2009

Best: Placido Domingo – Amore Infinito, Songs Inspired by the Poems of John Paul II – Karol Wojtyla
The songs are beautiful and the lyrics are all in the liner notes (with English translation when necessary). It features Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Vanessa Williams and generally people with really good voices.

Worse: Bob Dylan – Christmas In The Heart
It sounds like someone recorded a CD with all the songs that you have heard a million times and asked Bob to drink Drano and then sing some lead vocals. The artwork is horrible.

I got both of these this Christmas . . . the latter was from a white elephant exchange.
